Into the Abyss

Days and days spent in pain,
Insidious thoughts in hideuos rain...
Hollow shadows and a wily mire,
Engulfed in waves of deviant desire...

The desire - to be one,
Out of this dream once spun...
The dream of the yearned repose,
Into thy arms; our hearts so close...

This path - it leads to thee,
To my eternal love; this looming sea...
I walk thus captivated and weak,
Dazed in mind - no words to speak...
...
..
.
.
.
Slowly and slowly we meet and blend...
As I get lost; into this abyss I descend....

Babble
======
Its been a month since my last post. Where was I? Pursuing dreams, chasing wild geese... and sleeping. After all its an ephemeral world we live in.
Had a stimulating tete-a-tete with a dear friend. The result is present above... thought by thought... word by word.

Hands of God

(Picture Courtesy: Another soul in quest of purity)

In dreams I saw,
These hands which turn...
The wheel and urn...
Of bliss and awe.

This urn sans flaw,
Where fate doth churn,
In colors auburn-
Which marvels draw...

Lest I forget-
In an act of gaud..
The provenance and cod-
Which thy will beset...

Aye! its the clay, the pod...
Thy means- and hands of God...

Babble:
=======
I've been having bouts of self consciousness about my babble. Consider yourself warned. Select the following space to actually see what you've been warned against.

Generally I'm too conceited to even care about explaining the lines... :-| but I'd really like to draw attention (in case you haven't noticed yet) to the churn, auburn rhyme...
Auburn is light brown a la clay or at least as an approximation to it... Finding a rhyme that suits the theme in its entirety can often be a daunting task... but if found... it can be a source of great exhilaration.... la la la la ... ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫

Someday... (yes someday) I'll decide to drift away from the Petrarchan meter... but not just yet! *sigh*

Uh... and the pic is copyrighted to one of my friends...so no right clicks please.

El Conquistador

On the shores of a kingdom new,
With a heart full of desire,
And the might of a razing fire...
He stood in a world no one knew...

The land- it held a different hue,
For it bore the sought sapphire...
And dreams elusive- extraordinaire,
That none hath but a people few...

Its a land thats his to take...
With riches galore,
And a lost lore...
Its a nation thats his to make...

So in this kingdom, untouched before-
Stood The Conquistador; alone onshore...

Emmm...Conquistador? What?!

Fallen Angel

(Picture Courtesy: A dear friend who is
blossoming into a fine photographer)

In a morning filled with autumn air,
When a veil of grey across the sky,
Makes one wonder- of times gone by...
Light dawned- and world seemed fair...

September rush, with flair of care,
Hath serenity like a storm's eye...
With feelings swell, hopes all high...
Radiance withal- a moment to spare...

(But-)An angel lay fallen in dirt,
Oblivious it was to pain and strife...
Spirits numb- in wilderness of life...

It had to be a jest too curt;
The work of Atropos in times rife...
To shear fate...and a melodious fife...
...
..
.

---
Epilogue
---------
Actions have consequences and consequences
have bearings. Every storm has an eye and
regardless of turmoil, there is always a
recess. An angel can fall but never die-
just as a devil can walk but never live.
A melodious tune can enthrall and give rise
to a crescendo before fading into oblivion
for eternity.

Events might not be what they seem to be.
...And words might hold meanings that are
far from apparent.

Like all other sonnets this consists of a
"Muse" + "Conclusion" carefully wrapped and
obscured from prying eyes.
(because I'm sadistic ;) )

A note about meter:
If one cares to read "The Flute of Orpheus"
then its easy to see that the meter is the
same as that used in this poem.
So... same class of sonnets.

Musings

(Heres something that was written two years ago and has been gathering dust pinned to a wall of the 7X7 cube I spend most of my day in.)

Good bad syzygy,
Here I am... a fleeting jiffy...

A tiny flame flickering in the gale,
A stranded ship seeking winds on sail...

Of crimson flames and aurae azure,
I seek infinity with eyes demure...

I love to tread this desert gore,
Knowing the horizon holds intricacies galore...

Fine moments are what I cherish most,
Floating in time and forever which coast...

The Flute of Orpheus

You who held the world in sway,
In the arms of thy magical refrain,
Which made pearls in drops of rain...
And wherein the blissful cradle lay...

You whose flute hath an exotic way,
That moved Persephone with its strain...
And revived beloved Eurydice slain...
From the underworld of Hades' play...

Thy spirit, Orpheus - lost it lies...
Taken by Maenads in a time bygone,
Issues of devil, halos who don...

The song of life, now hath cries...
Words are dead and gallows spawn,
Ahoy to this night, without a dawn...

Legend of Orpheus

Petrarch: "I counted the lines and can see the 8+6 formation which makes it a sonnet but why does the meter sound familiar???"

Me: "Thats because the meter is abba-abba cdd-cdd... which makes it a Petrarchan Sonnet!"

Way Back Into Love

Disclaimer:
This is an attempt to create a solo version of "Way Back into Love" from Music and Lyrics. For record, the chorus has been blatantly copied from that song.
The meter of the following song permits it to be sung to the tune of "Way Back into Love"(without any doubt by a voice less shriller than mine).

All this time,
I've been so terribly naive...
Lookin' for someone,
Who'd come and help me save...

I've been seekin' forever,
For aeons atime,
Scourin' for you without a waver.

[chorus]
All I wanna do,
Is find a way back into love...
I cant make it through,
Without a way back into love...

Moments ago,
'twas your face that appeared...
Floating in time,
In a faraway land unseared...

Its the land of the blessed,
Kingdom o' heaven,
For the souls repressed...

[chorus]
All I wanna do,
Is find a way back into love...
I cant make it through,
Without a way back into love...

Wonderful love,
Is like the fragrance of a rose...
Luring us,
To the warmth of its repose...

This love will enchant you,
Like autumn air,
And leaves in morning dew...

[chorus]
All I wanna do,
Is find a way back into love...
I cant make it through,
Without a way back into love...
